During Lent, Catholics around the world often choose to participate in a reflection known as "Stations of the Cross", "The Way of the Cross" or even "Via Crucis".
This practice grew from pilgrims in Israel literally following the last steps of Jesus before the crucifixion. Today, we use this tradition to reflect on the Passion of Christ and encourage us during this Lenten Season to pick up our own cross and follow Him.
Pictures or scupltures are often used in Catholic Churches to represent each of the 14 stations.
