Confirmation Sponsors
Sponsor Role
The role of a Confirmation Sponsor is to serve as a Catholic witness and guide in the Catholic faith for the Confirmation youth. The sponsor should be someone that the youth can depend on to learn more about their Catholic faith as they continue to journey into adulthood as a Catholic.
Sponsor Requirements
A Confirmation Sponsor must meet the following basic requirements:
- The sponsor must be a practicing Catholic. A practicing Catholic is someone that receives the Sacraments with frequency and attends Mass regularly.
- The sponsor must be fully initiated into the Catholic Church (this means that the sponsor has received all three Sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist)
- A sponsor can be single or married, but if married must be married within the Catholic Church.
- The sponsor must be someone other than the candidate's parents.
Sponsor Form
Sponsor must fill out a Sponsor form. Candidates must submit the Sponsor form to their Confirmation teacher or Catechist by November 1, 2011.
(Add Sponsor Covenant Form here in English and Spanish. I am going to attach it because it was revamped. The attachment has an English and Spanish version in it. The Spanish is beneath it).
Parent Confirmation Meetings
Parents are expected to attend three Parent Catechetical events that will be held throughout the year. The purpose of these events is to help equip parents as the primary educators of the Catholic faith within the home. There will be a parent catechetical events throughout the year. Please see Special Event Calendar for details.
