Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

Rite of the Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which non-baptized adults (catechumens) and baptized Christians (candidates) are fully initiated into the Catholic Church.  RCIA is an opportunity for people to learn about the doctrine of the Catholic faith and appropriate it as their own.

At St. Monica's there are a core team of leaders, speakers, and sponsors who will be available to teach, answer questions, dialogue, and support the candidates and catechumens on this journey of spiritual conversion. RCIA is a time of prayerful discernment marked by freedom.  All adults who are interested in becoming Catholic are welcome to attend RCIA.  No one is obligated to become Catholic.

Adults who are ready to become fully initiated will receive the sacraments of initiation (baptism, confirmation and Eucharist) at the Easter vigil.  RCIA sessions will be held on a weekly basis on Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the lower lounge in the family center.  The first inquiry session will be held on August 31, 2009.   For more information on how to register for RCIA or how to become a sponsor or core team leader, please contact: Mariangela Byrne at: (214) 357-8549; mbyrne@stmonicachurch.org.

RCIA Registration for the 2009-2010 year has closed. Registration for the 2010 year will be held June - August of 2010.
