First Reconciliation
Traditionally this Sacrament is received for the first time when a child is at least seven years old or in the second grade. St. Monica’s sacramental preparation program prepares children for their First Reconciliation before they receive First Holy Communion. Through regular attendance of religious education classes for two consecutive years, the child learns about the power of God's forgiveness, conversion, sin, and penance. Parents are expected to be actively involved in helping prepare their child for this sacrament. A parent class will be offered to assist parents in preparing their child for this Sacrament. First Holy Communion“Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life”. John 6:54
Traditionally, First Holy Communion is celebrated when children are at least seven years of age or in the second grade. At St. Monica’s, children attend religious education regularly for two consecutive years and must be ready to receive First Holy Communion before celebrating this Sacrament. Parents are to assist in preparing their children for the reception of this sacrament by sharing with children the importance of the Mass and the Eucharist in their lives. A parent class will be offered to assist parents in preparing their children to receive this Sacrament. |
