Cedar Creek Lake: Ski, Fish, Lashing

The August campout is this weekend at Cedar Creek Lake. The Burns and Tomasos have a lakehouse and boat so we can swim, fish, and go skiing and wakeboarding. I know there may be a lot of football conflicts, but the house is only 1 hour and 15 minutes away, so I hope people can fit this into their weekend.

Leave: We will meet this Friday, Aug 22, at 5:00 pm at the Scout Hut and leave by 5:30 pm.

Return:  We will return to the Scout Hut by noon on Sunday.

Food:  I will serve as grubmaster for the weekend, and I'll recruit attending campers to help me run the kitchen. Bring a sack lunch for Friday dinner.

Cost:  $10 should cover all meals from Sat breakfast to Sun breakfast.

Sleeping: The house has room for approx 8 adults to sleep inside, if they want, plus bathrooms. (Rooms assigned in order of campout signup for those attending Friday night.) The boys and interested adults will sleep in tents by the lake.

Equipment:  You really only need to bring a sleeping bag, pad, pillow, bathing suit, change of clothes, toothbrush, and a towel. And bring your own tent if you have one. Otherwise, the troop tents should be sufficient.

Location:  The house is located in Gun Barrel City on Cedar Creek Lake at 170 MEMORIAL DR. Here is a map.

Diretions:

  1. From Central just south of downtown, take 175 South-East towards Kaufmann.
  2. Drive past Seagoville, and watch the split in Kaufmann. You want to stay on 175. Try to avoid Business-175, or you'll slow down going though the lights in Kaufmann.
  3. At Kemp, exit onto TX-274.
  4. Go right (south) 9 miles to Seven Points.
  5. Turn left (east) on 85/334, and go 3.7mi.
  6. Turn right (south) on Legendary.
  7. Go 1.1 miles on Legendary.
  8. Turn Left at the sign for Holiday Club Estates. (The map calls it Lakeview, but it has been renamed to Memorial.)
  9. Follow the road around about .3 miles to 170 Memorial.
  10. We are the Cedar wood house with the bright fishing lure mailbox. You can't miss it.
