Ski Trip Notes

Here are some last minute notes and reminders for the ski trip:

  1. This note may become a collectors item. It is quite likely the only time you will ever see a message from the scoutmaster that says you do NOT need to wear a Scout Uniform on this trip.

  2. Please be at the Scout Hut at 6pm tonight. We will load the bus and try to be on the road by 6:30pm.

  3. Remember to pack your ski clothes in a bag you can carry on the bus. You bag with everything else will be packed under the bus. We go straight to the slopes in the morning without stopping at the hotel or unloading stuff from under the bus.

  4.  Bring you dinner tonight, or eat before 6pm. We will not stop for dinner. Our first stop will be in Amarillo at about midnight for gas and to switch bus drivers.

  5. Bring a few dollars in case you want a snack or a drink at the gas station tonight or on the way home. Other than that, all other costs of the trip are covered in your fees.

  6. We will be staying at the America's Best Value Inn: Wolf Creel Lodge in South Fork, Colorado. The phone number there is 800-874-0416, though your best bet is to call my cell at 214-755-3800 if you need anything. (Moms, I can already tell you that everything is fine, so don't worry. Now you don't have to call and check!)

  7. The weather should be great for skiing, though a little chilly. The high yesterday was 7 degrees, but a warming trend is coming and you can expect low to mid 20's for the weekend, along with sunny days and some light snow. We get to the slopes at 8am each morning, and it will be cold that early on the mountain. Be prepared.

  8. We will call everyone late Monday with an approximate ETA, and then again about an hour out of Dallas with an exact pick up time. Expect us to arrive between 3 and 5 am on Tuesday.

Please call or email with any questions.

Yours in Skiing and Scouting,

Michael Burns
