St. Monica Catholic Church

Never Before Baptized

  • Phase 1 - Inquiry

This is the time of responding to the first stirring to the call of God’s voice.  This call can come
    •  in the form of a desire to go to Mass
    • or an invitation from a Catholic to attend Mass,
    • or a longing to know God better,
    • or there maybe simply a feeling of uncertainty as to the direction your life needs to take or some other reason.

The question, “What does it mean to be Catholic?” will be addressed.  After this period of inquiry those desiring to continue on their journey will join the Order of Catechumens through the Rite of Acceptance.

  • Phase 2 - Spiritual and Intellectual Formation.

During this phase there will be presentations and reflections directed to specific topics (i.e., The Trinity, God’s Word, The Mass, Prayer, etc.).

  • Phase 3 - Rite of Election, a time of Purification and Enlightenment.

Deeper formation occurs through prayer, group and personal retreats, and private reflection.
  • Phase 4 - Final Initiation

Receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist at Easter Vigil.
