Father Stephen Bierschenk

                                           

Father Stephen Bierschenk was born in Fort Worth, Texas and attended St. Alice Catholic School for grades 1 through 3. When his family moved to Weatherford, Texas, he attended public schools and graduated from Weatherford High School. After High School, he entered Holy Trinity Seminary in Irving, Texas and attended the University of Dallas, receiving a Bachelor's degree in Humanities in 1972. He attended graduate school at the University of Dallas and received a Masters of Divinity in 1976.

Fr. Bierschenk was ordained to the Priesthood on May 1, 1976 for the Diocese of Dallas. He served as Parochial Vicar (Assistant) at St. Monica Church , Dallas (1976-1979); St. Thomas Aquinas , Dallas (1979 -1983); and St. Elizabeth of Hungary, Dallas (1983-1984).

Fr. Bierschenk served as Pastor at St. Elizabeth, Bonham (1984-1986); St. Augustine, Dallas (1986-1989); St. Thomas Aquinas, Dallas (1989-2002); St. Michael the Archangel, McKinney and Holy Family, Van Alstyne (2002 -2008); and St. Monica, Dallas (April 29, 2008 to present). At this time, he also serves as a member of the Diocese of Dallas Priest Personnel Board.

Fr. Bierschenk is the eldest child of Dorothy and Alfred Bierschenk and has seven brothers, six sisters and thirty-five nephews and nieces. His hobbies include gardening, reading (especially history and politics), travel, photography, snow skiing, scuba diving and model railroading. He has completed twenty marathons, including Dallas Whiterock (5 times), Chicago (4times), Boston (2 times), St. George (4 times), Fort Worth (2 times).
 
When Fr. Bierschenk was in the second grade, he decided that he wanted to be a priest and a few years later he also developed an interest in becoming a doctor. In high school he considered attending medical school but chose to first try the seminary. At this time he continues to enjoy his work as a Priest so much that his medical career has been postponed indefinitely
