Music and Liturgy Participation for the Youth

We encourage participation in all of our liturgical ministries to enable our youth to experience their faith and share their gifts in many different ways. With appropriate training and commitment, our young people can serve our community as outstanding Ministers of Holy Communion, acolytes, lectors, cantors, and ushers.

Many of our talented youth enhance our 5 pm Sunday Mass through music. Our music at this Mass is carefully selected and is more upbeat and contemporary lead by Vicente Lujan, Youth Ministry Music Director. We welcome musicians and singers to share their gifts with the community by joining the Teen Music Ministry for all young people in grades 6th through 12th.   The youth music ministry meets on Thursday evenings at 7-8PM in the church choir room for practice, and Sunday at 4PM in the church to setup.  The Mass celebration begins at 5PM.  We are currently the fastest growing Mass at St. Monica, and it has been observed that some of our youth are the best cantors in our parish!
