Under the new pastor, Msgr. Anthony Daly, planning for the permanent church began. The church was estimated to cost $850,000. The architect, Thomas E. Stanley described the new church as "in the round." The layout was considered a functional plan to bring parishioners closer to the altar and pulpit. The rectory was also designed to blend into the architectural look of the church.
Connell Construction Co. broke ground on November 11, 1965. A 60-foot-high bell tower was erected near the front of the church. The tower held three enormous bronze bells donated by Mr. & Mrs. Fred Bell.
The first service in the new church was Midnight Mass on Christmas 1966. Until the formal dedication on April 9, 1967, the church was only used for Sunday Masses and weddings. After the dedication the old temporary church was converted into an auditorium and gymnasium for the parish school.
